Educational Technology/Software

Today's student has an adundance of technological softwares to enhance their educational progress.

1.Drill and Practice softwares: This webpage provide an array of math practice drill.
Lesson Plan: During leisure time each student will use the drill and practice website to mprove their simple math skill.

Technology and Education: Netbooks

Netbooks are now viewed as an essential componenet of the classroom as to the textbook. Moreover, a netbook is less costly than a laptop, and also less complicated. A netbook makes learning simple. A netbbok is used to connect students to websites and actively engaged in powerpoint presentations by using a projector students learning become more tangible. As for concerned parents and the accessibility to the internet, the netbook can easily be turned off by removing the internet card which provides internet access. Netbooks are being used during classrroom for notetaking and remote homework accessibility. As for students, who are technology savvy, parents may set up guidelines and restriction from internet usage either by removing the internet card or internet usage while parent is present.

Lesson Plan: Student wll create an ethnic recipe after discussion on ethnic cuisine. For the past week the students were exploring ethnic cultures and cuisine(food).  To create this cuisine each studnet will have access to the internet and conduct a search using (Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.). For Example: (Caribbean) Beans and Rice recipe:  ham or salt pork, onion, sweet peppers, thyme, rice, tomatoes, tomato paste, olive oil, beef broth, garlic, salt , black pepper and hot sauce. Soak  meat over night. cut meat into bite sizes. cook meat in beef stock until tender. saute onion, garlic, sweet pepper in olove oil. Add tomatoes, and tomato paste, cook for a 5 minutes, then add tyme and the meat stock. Add rice and cook uncovered until 5 minutes. Then reduce heat. Stir for two minutes. Cover and continue to cook over low heat and until rice is done.

My Favorite Technology is PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)

Picture Exchange Communication System is utilized by special education teachers as a tool to teach a task through repetition, thern the child is instructed. Autism students with non-verbal skills are provided pictures to express their needs and wants. PECS is also utilized to implement daily classroom routine; for example, Brakfast and lunc menus, Dismissal, daily schedule, school field trips, and social skills. In addition, PECS is initially opening doors as instrument used for teching basic reading. Through picture symbols written left to right Autism students are reading.

Behavviorism, Cognitivisim, and constructivisim are the windows are the windows (vision)into how humans learn. Behaviorism: The mind is  "Black Box" and repetition occurs regularly. Cognitivism is viewed as a computer. It storges information. Constructivisim: Recalls what was learned of the stored information . The stored information acts as Rhizome" grabs attention and help storage. Constructivisim is guided by solving problems. There are two Theories Types identified : Descriptive Learning: Theory of Whati is learning? 2. Perspective Theory: How do we help people learn? Pescriptive Instruction : is fostered through leraning., and storage is long term memory.
